Connecting Veterans at The Warrior Healing Center

Outsiders might think living in a military community like the Sierra Vista/Fort Huachuca area has a magical ability to navigate government services. With so many military members and veterans, it makes sense there would be a seamless transfer from active duty to retirement.

It seems like it should be easy to connect with local and national veteran services, but just like everywhere else, it can be difficult, even in Cochise County. It was in this space where veterans' services were available, yet too spread out and difficult where the Warrior Healing Center was born.

Why the Warrior Healing Center Was Founded

According to their website, "The Warrior Healing Center (WHC)...[was] started because of the need for coordinated services for Veterans in Sierra Vista, AZ. While there were many veterans and veteran-oriented organizations in the area, much of the leg work was put on veterans to find who did what and how to contact them. The WHC united over 50 partners under one roof so veterans can visit the center and easily find the help they need, such as getting VA disability rating increase, getting prepared meals, help with rent and utility payments, service animal pairing, and a variety of activity-based therapies."

Executive Director and Warrior Healing Center Founder Dr. Tim Kirk started the WHC in 2018 when he saw a need for a single point of contact for veterans. When vets are navigating the often-choppy waters of government red tape combined with PTSD and other factors, the Warrior Healing Center has become a beacon of light in a complicated world.

The Warrior Healing Center is a 501c3 which offers a broad range of services and social programs for Veterans and their families.
