THIS Is Arizona’s Favorite Music Genre?

I'd consider myself a bit of a music snob. As a musician myself, I like to dive into just about every genre I can (Midwest emo these days) to broaden my horizons. You never know when you'll find something new you like.

For most people, however, they tend to stick with one or two main genres as they tend to bring comfort and familiarity.

So, what's Arizona's favorite?

What Does America Prefer?

America is a melting pot, with plenty of viewpoints and preferences among its population. That being said, two distinct genres dominate the nation of Red, White and Blue according to a study done by Engineer Boards.

Those genres would be Classic Rock and Country, two genres I was practically raised on. This is no surprise, as these tend to touch on the heartbeat of America, leading rural areas to lean towards these bands and musicians during troubling times.

Arizona's Favorite Genre

Arizona, like much else, enjoys being the black sheep of the family. The favorite genre of the Grand Canyon State is Metal, sharing this love only with North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

This surprised me initially, but then I remembered how many ads I've seen for metal and hardcore shows around Tucson and Phoenix, compared to the Alternative/Indie shows I'd see advertised more often in Florida. These shows turn into fans, and those fans help make the Arizona music scene what it is..
