THIS Arizona Law Is Incredibly Dangerous For Motorcyclists
In 1966, my grandfather bought himself a Harley-Davidson DuoGlide motorcycle. It's an absolute beauty, and is still in my family to this day.
We're not exactly the type of family you'd think of when discussing motorcyclists, but we ride nonetheless. Safety has always been on the forefront though, and I'll bet my parents are glad I don't have a bike out in Arizona.
Do You Legally Have to Wear a Helmet in Arizona?
The answer is yes and no. For all those under 18 years old, it is mandatory by Arizona state law that you wear a helmet when operating a motorcycle or motorbike. This is obviously to protect developing brains, but things change after that 18 year mark.
After the age of 18, it is not required to wear a helmet on a motorcycle, but it's not entirely the best idea to forego one either. Cyclists who wear helmets while riding have a 37% greater chance of surviving an accident over cyclists who do not wear one.

Arizona's Weird Necessity for Bikers
While motorcyclists over 18 are not required to wear a helmet, there is something everyone must wear when on the road. That would be any kind of facial protection.
This can include, glasses, goggles, or face shields on helmets, but some kind of protection must be worn. While a helmet protects you,. goggles keep your vision unimpaired, leaving you much less likely to accidentally cause a wreck. So the next time you're out enjoying the scenic views of Arizona's country, make sure to gear up, and stay safe.
