Every one of Arizona's counties hold something special. Whether it's a major city, or a jaw-dropping national park, there's something of value in every one.

Living in these counties, however, shows that not every one is made equally, and a shocking recent study just named the top-5 counties in the Grand Canyon State.

How to Determine the "Best" County

Sure, everyone has their preferences for where they'd like to live, but determining the livability of a county is actually a very objective, straightforward process. In a study conducted by Niche, 10 factors were weighed to determine their rankings.

Counties were ranked on college rates, cost of living, housing costs, public schools, diversity, job availability, access to healthcare,  outdoor activities, commute times, and nightlife. Each category was ranked with a letter grade, A through F, and those were all averaged together to create a comprehensive ranking of the best counties to live in.

The Best County in Arizona

Coming in at the top spot, with an A overall grade is Greenlee County. Niche specified that its low population, excellent schooling system, and cheap housing market makes it the perfect place for families to move to.

Coming in at a close second is Pima County, with an overall A-. This comes from their booming job market, massive nightlife, and plenty of natural beauty.

Lastly, in third overall is our very own Cochise County, with a B+ overall grade. Cochise's stunning outdoor recreation areas, public schooling, and small population make this a welcome addition to the list, even surpassing Maricopa County.
