The Arizona Border Wall Is Finally About To Be Finished
One of the largest goals of both Trump administrations was securing the southern border. A major part of that is the construction of a physical wall between the United States and Mexico.
Arizona is a major part of that, as we're close neighbors with Mexico, and our stretch of the border wall is about to enter the final phase of completion.
Why Hasn't the Wall Been Finished Yet?
This wall has been under construction for what feels like a lifetime. You'd think with illegal immigration being the hot political topic, we'd have made some progress. The stalling isn't due to any want, it's an ecological problem.
Stretches of the wall have remained unfinished due to the Center of Biological Diversity and the National Environmental Policy Act. These two have raised concerns that the wall will permanently disrupt vital parts of the desert ecosystem, and have been successful at halting any and all construction for these concerns.

Department of Homeland Security Steps In
In Arizona, the U.S. is focused on closing seven gaps in the wall, each between 240 feet to 27 miles just south of Tucson. The Department of Homeland Security has made it clear that finishing these sections is a matter of upmost importance, and have finally made leeway.
The DHS has just issued three new waivers, which would allow them to overstep the National Environmental Policy Act and finish their wall. The Center for Biological Diversity is, understandably, upset with this, but the waivers do give the DHS the right to continue their project, issues or not.
