Idaho Shooter Had Ties To Arizona. Here’s What We Know
On June 29th, 2025, tragedy struck. Local Firefighters in Northwest Idaho responded to a routine brush fire before being ambushed by a young man. Two were killed in the chaos before the man turned the gun on himself.
Upon inspection, the shooter was identified as 20 year old Wess Roley, who happens to have deep running Arizona connections.
Roley's Upbringing
Roley's life started like any other. Born to two (at the time) loving parents in California, the Roley family moved to Germany when Wess was still a young boy. Roley's father was in the Army, which led to several moves in his formative years, uprooting his life every few years.
As the years went by, Roley's father became incredibly abusive. Most notably, he once threatened Roley and his mother, claiming he would wait outside their home with a rifle and "burn the place down", which may shed some light on Roley's course of action.

Arizona Connections
It was around the time that Roley's father became violent that the family had moved to Arizona. Specifically, the three lived in Phoenix until 2023. It's still unclear if his time in the Grand Canyon State influenced his attacks, but records show his mother filed for divorce at the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2015, ten years ago.
Roley moved from Arizona to Idaho when he turned 18, hoping to work for his father's tree-trimming company. Evidence suggests he'd been living in his car for some time before the shooting, and had little-to-no outdoor or survival training. Up until this point, he had no criminal record to his name.
