Should You Keep Your Garage Door Open For Arizona’s Summer?
Arizona summers get hot, there's no denying that. As such, most Arizona residents tend to stay inside to beat the heat, but even that's not enough sometimes. If you want to stay cool indoors, your A/C bill is bound to skyrocket.
There is an age old myth, that's been an Arizona staple for decades to keep homes cooler, but does it actually work?
Keeping the Garage Open
Unlike the rest of your home, the Garage is usually the least insulated space on your property. They're giant cubes of stone and brick with little space for the heat to escape from. As such, garages tend to get much, much hotter than the rest of the home.
As such, it's become a bit of Arizona myth that keeping your garage door open in the summers will keep your whole house cooler, and allow you to lower that A/C bill drastically.

How to Protect Yourself from the Brutal Arizona Heat
Myth or Truth?
To many, this seems too good to be true. Luckily, garage door company D Bar Garage Doors busted this myth for us! And yes! Keeping your garage door open in the summers can make a difference! It will get rid of any excess heat, but they're adamant that the best solution is to keep a well-maintained and insulated garage.
There are cons to this, though. A wide open garage door isn't always the safest, possibly letting animals or even home intruders in without much of a fight. As such, it's recommended to only crack the door a little to still allow air to circulate, while being too small for critters or ne'er-do-wells to creep into.
