Medium Larger Than Life

As a teen, I remember watching the Oprah Winfrey Show with my Gran after school. One day, Oprah had a guest named James Van Praagh, a self-described psychic medium. I was fascinated. Van Praagh "read" the audience in a live demonstration, connecting loved ones who had passed with members of the audience. There was skepticism, then laughter. Then, at times, tears, as the evidence was given, and messages from the other side were shared.

At the urging of my Gran, I read Van Praagh's book, and I was intrigued. I later discovered young medium, Tyler Henry, who has a new Netflix series titled, "Life After Death with Tyler Henry". Their mission is to communicate with loved ones who have crossed over, "to bring comfort and closure to the living".

What is an Evidential Medium

I've always wanted to be in the audience for a live mediumship reading, curious about what I would discover. I lost Gran back in 2009. Since she opened my mind to this world, and I've always wondered if I could connect with her through a medium.

Not long ago, I met Danielle Juhl right here in Sierra Vista. Danielle told me she is an Evidential Medium. An Evidential Medium, she explained, connects with Spirit. Spirit gives her evidence or pieces of information which she shares with her client or sitter. The evidence helps confirm she's communicating with the loved one.

Along the way, Danielle shares messages from Spirit with the sitter. Sometimes the messages are funny or heartwarming; at times, the information comes through as an apology or a wish they could have done something different in life. The messages are always intended to help heal and bring comfort to the living.

Danielle's Story

I sat down with Danielle to learn more about her journey. Danielle's story is similar to the accounts I've heard from other mediums. She always had a gift, but assumed everyone could perceive the world the way she did. For years she kept her insights to herself.

When she lost her mom in 2017, her world, she shared, was rocked. As Danielle navigated the journey through her grief, she found a way to connect with her abilities. A relative recommended she connect with English Medium Charlie Kelly through online classes.

"At first," Danielle recalls, "I was intimidated. I'd never done anything like mediumship before and I didn't think I could do it." But Charlie saw something in her, and almost immediately called her out in front of the virtual class.

"And you know what?" Danielle asked. "I did it! It felt natural, and I've never looked back." Danielle spent the next few years learning, practicing, and honing her craft to honor Spirit and help her clients. Danielle, a native of Tucson and Sierra Vista, now connects with Spirit on a regular basis. Plus, she teaches and mentors other budding mediums.

I was thrilled to learn Danielle has scheduled a public demonstration, where she will connect some audience members with their loved ones.

The Sierra Vista Community Theatre is hosting her live show on Saturday March 4th from 6-8pm and the public is invited. Tickets are going quickly, and seating is extremely limited, so it's a good idea to pick them up in advance. Who knows? Maybe you'll be chosen to connect with your loved one.

I asked Danielle what Mediumship means to her. She told me after she lost her mom, she learned so many unexpected things about grief, love, and loss. Mediumship was her way to find personal healing through service to others.

"For me," she says, "grief is love. Pure love. My grief is a direct testimony of my relationship with [my mom]. The deeper the love, the deeper the grief. Mediumship is not an answer for grief, but a tool to allow us peace to move forward."
