The Firefighters Christmas drive for 2022 was the fifty first year. For three Wednesday’s, we took over the Schlotzsky’s /Ace Hardware parking lot to help out. With community donations, the Firefighters were able to help 224 families, that is over 595 kids in the Sierra Vista, Palominas and Hereford area.

Sierra Vista Fire Marshal Don Foster said, “We had a lot of big cash donations from some of our local sponsors you know like Canyon Vista (Medical Center) Ace Hardware, Schlotzsky's. Arby's really stepped up and really gave us a big check as well as Barnetts (towing and Propane), so we just we really just got a lot of help from the community”. Indvidual's from the community stepped up with donations of unwrapped toys for kids ages zero to twelve. Many people also gave cash and gift cards to help the effort. The firefighters used the cash to buy toys for kids in the age groups where the donations fell short, and they always shop local with the donated money.

“Every year we try to make it a little bit bigger and more fun and stuff for the people to stop by.” Said Fire Marshal Foster. They brought their talking fire hydrant, Squirt the little drivable brush truck and, of course, firetrucks and ladder trucks.

Thank you to the Firefighters for doing this every year. Fire Marshal Foster said: “Our thanks is just seeing the smiles on the face of the kids when we go out there and deliver because it really it does make a difference for them.”

Special shout-out to Schlotsky’s and Ace Hardware: THANK YOU for letting us take over their parking lot for a while.
