Adam Curtis, Public Information Officer with the City of Sierra Vista, was on First Watch to discuss this weekend's events. There are two fantastic events.

Adam Curtis: Our signature Sips and Skies weekend is coming up, Memorial Day weekend. It's an event pairing that we started about six years ago; it'll take place on Saturday, May 27th.

The first event is the 6th Annual Wine, Beer and Spirits Festival and Veterans Memorial Park Saturday from noon to 7:00 PM. We'll have 15 wineries and vineyards, two distilleries, and three breweries offering tastings and samples.

You can also purchase. If you want to get advanced tickets, you can save a bit of money and go over to eventbrite.com and search for Sierra Vista Wine, Beer and Spirits Festival, and you'll save about five bucks per ticket.

There are tasting tickets both for wine and beer and you can kind of see how all that works online. It's kind of nice that we've added a little bit more of the beer component in the last couple of years, which is really cool.

We just confirmed that Tombstone Brewery will be out there as well, which is just cool because they just opened up that location on the West End. We're very excited to get them to participate as well.

There'll be live music throughout the event. The Band Wanted will be playing from 3 to 7:00 PM; they're from Tombstone. Desert Fever from Sierra Vista, a jazz combo band, will be planning from noon to 7:00 PM.

You can bring out a picnic blanket or something if you like. We do have seating out in the shade. Check out eventbrite.com and search for Sierra Vista Wine, Beer and Spirits Festival to get those advanced tickets so you can save a little bit of money.

Tell us about the second event of the Sips and Skies weekend.

Adam Curtis: The "Sips" is the Wine, Beer and Spirits Festival. The "Skies" is the Sky Island Summit Challenge. Registration for that closes on Wednesday.

This is a challenge where you can take on one, two, or three peaks in the Huachuca Mountains. So that's either a 10.8-mile hike, a 15-mile hike, or an 18.1-mile hike, and that's a Car Peak, Pat Scott Peak and Miller Peak are the three peaks involved. Get tickets or sign up for that at active.com; search for Sky Island Summit Challenge. Registration closes on Wednesday.

This event is paired with our Wine, Beer and Spirits Festival. If you enter the Summit Challenge, you get some free tickets for tastings at the festival as well. That will come in your swag bag, and you get some other cool stuff. We Max out at 250 folks for that challenge, and we're approaching 200.

People are kind of last minute in this town and sign up pretty heavily right before the event, so we hope to get really close to 250 this year.

Time is running out, but please do check out active.com and search for Sky Island Summit challenge if you want to sign up for that. If you've never hiked to the top of those peaks, it's just gorgeous up there.

So again, active.com registration for that closes on Wednesday.
