Local School Receives an Award!

The Arizona Educational Foundation just awarded a local school, The A+ School of Excellence Award! This award is given to schools that have an A or B rating under the Arizona Department of Education and show an outstanding student success rate. Huachuca Mountain Elementary School just received this award! What is so special about this achievement, and what does it mean for the school?

Huachuca Mountain Elementary School

Huachuica Mountain Elementary School has been a part of the Sierra Vista Unified School District for some time now. They offer courses for elementary and pre-school-aged students in Sierra Vista, and have recently proven themselves to be a great learning institution. On February 18th, Sierra Vista Unified School District released a press release announcing Huachuca Mountain Elementary School's achievement! For the 2025-2030 school year cycle, they are an official recipient of the A+ School of Excellence Award!

In the press release sent out on February 18th, Superintendent Terri Romo states, "We are proud of this accomplishment and grateful to our community for being an essential part of the Lightning Bolts family.”

This isn't the only time an elementary school in this district has shone! In 2025, Village Meadows Elementary School also received this award! This shows a commitment to success within the district that is being recognized statewide!

What's Special about this Award?

This award isn't just about rank. There are lots of A and B rankded schools in our community. According to the Arizona Educational Foundation, this award highlights A and B-ranked schools that show off empowering traits such as: support for teacher led intruction that is innovative and effective, outstanding service to their community, integrated care for students' intellectual, social, and academic needs, as well as a commitment to quality opportunities for all students.

This award can be impactful to schools. It can help improve community confidence in the school and encourage parent and community involvement in students' education. According to the press release sent out earlier, Sierra Vista Unified School Districts Superindetnent, Terri Romo, praises this achievement, stating, "Our dedicated staff, supportive families, and engaged students have created a culture where excellence thrives, and every child is empowered to succeed."
