Know when to evacuate Ready! Set! Go!

The Sierra Vista Monument Fire was a wildfire that occurred in the Huachuca Mountains of Arizona in the summer of 2011. The fire began on June 12th quickly spread, burning over 30,000 acres and causing the evacuation of several homes and businesses in Sierra Vista and on Fort Huachuca. The fire was contained on June 22nd, after 10 days of intense firefighting efforts from multiple agencies. Local firefighters as well as assets from all over the sate were used. The fire caused damage to several buildings, as well as environmental damage.

The Arizona "Ready! Set! Go!" program is a wildfire preparedness program that is designed to help residents, businesses, and communities in the state of Arizona prepare for the threat of wildfire. The program focuses on three main stages: Ready, Set, and Go, each of which has specific actions to follow and reduce the risk of wildfire damage. 

The Ready stage of the Ready Set Go program focuses on preparing for the threat of wildfire. BE READY! This includes creating a defensible space around homes and buildings, making sure that evacuation plans are in place, having contact information for friends, relatives and neighbors. Learn about your area and the signs of an approaching wildfire. 

The Set stage of the Arizona Ready Set Go program focuses on taking action during the early stages of a wildfire. This includes activating emergency plans, preparing for evacuation if necessary, and staying informed about the latest developments and evacuation orders. Have a go bag with phones, contact information and medications. 

The Go stage of the Arizona Ready Set Go program focuses on taking action during the final stages of a wildfire, including evacuation and protecting property. This includes following evacuation orders; if law enforcement or other first responders tell you to go, do it. taking steps to protect homes and other buildings, and staying informed about the latest developments in the wildfire.
