With our busy lifestyle, it's not surprising we might pause for a moment and imagine a slower pace. Somewhere we could unplug and get away from everything.

Loneliness is only a state of being if you don't want to be alone. If you choose to be alone, you're probably not going to find yourself pining for company.

So, what should you do if you find yourself truly hoping to get away from everything?

Is this the loneliest town in Arizona?

It may not be the loneliest, but it's certainly the most remote town on the map. It's called Supai, and it's located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The only way to get to Supai is by helicopter, mule, or hiking.

This place is about as remote as you could possibly imagine. There are no roads, no cars, and no internet. The town has a population of about 200 people, mostly members of the Havasupai tribe. It's unlikely they would describe themselves as lonely.

The Havasupai tribe live a simple life, but to call this lonely would be a stretch. The town is surrounded by stunning waterfalls and natural beauty.

Outsiders Need Not Apply

If you're looking to relocate, though, keep on going. Outsiders - don't expect a warm welcome from the locals. They're not too fond of tourists and charge hefty fees for camping and hiking permits. The Havasupai have been in the canyon for generations, and they're not looking at expanding their town.

Transferring to Supai?

Supai is the most remote village in the US, with no roads or cars, and the only way to get there is by helicopter, mule or on foot. They're not particularly open to outsiders, so you're probably better off finding another place to live.
